I found the predator-prey image creation very interesting. On my screen the prey appeared to move at random speeds while the single minded predator, seemed to move at a constant speed, creating an eerie realistic visual. I kept waiting for the prey to reach the light (one of it's objectives) but it would speed in the other direction with the approach of the predator. The prey appeared to be more afraid of the predator than attracted to the light. I wonder if the prey was more attracted to the light and less afraid of the predator, if your program would create a "prettier" picture??? : ).

I did a course in generative creativity at uni, and for my coursework I write an interactive predator-prey simulation that creates emergent images, its nowhere near as good as the other stuff posted here, but its still an interesting alternative approach to alife art I think anyway! You can take a look at it here:

I want to tell fellow alife fans that you can now subscribe to the "Morning Metaflower" and receive a brand new, previously unpublished metaflower in your email every morning, along with access to a much larger version suitable for printing and framing. It's only a dollar per month, and all proceeds support my programming work (see next paragraph!). Check it out at http://mindheart.org/mflowers/.

Now, partly supported by Morning Metaflower subscriptions, I am working on Metaflowers 2.0, a Mac OS X application you'll be able to use to breed and refine your own flowers. Watch here or at my web site for updates on my progress! It's going to be a kick-ass cool program.

the work of actually rendering the images could be shifted to the viewer's computer by displaying them in a java applet that paints them and only exchanges parameters and feedback with the server.
